A Brief Message From Our President.
On behalf of the men and women of NEPBA Local 27, I am pleased to welcome you both here online as well as in person if you should ever find yourself travelling through Hanover, NH.
Hanover is located on the western side of New Hampshire in the scenic Upper Connecticut River Valley. The river forms the border between Vermont and New Hampshire.
The Town has a population of 10,850 and is the home of Dartmouth College, which was established in 1769. The Town charter was granted in 1761 and the first permanent settlers arrived from Connecticut in 1765. Today the most populated area of Town is near the river and the College. The more rural sections of Town are Hanover Center and Etna. The elevation is approximately 603 feet.
Located near Interstates 89 and 91, Hanover is 2 hours from Boston, 3 hours from Montreal, and 5 hours from New York City.
While our Local is small when compared to more urban areas, we are a dedicated and active group. Formed in 2000, our issues are common to most unions; wages & benefits, working conditions and equal treatment. The men and women of Local 27 support our community through community dinners, scholarships, project graduation, a bike giveaway program and working with local kids. We have adopted a small local assisted living house and it's senior residents. We also support the National Law Enforcement Memorial & Museum and other projects.
Initially we were members of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO) but disaffiliated with them in January 2007 due to a lack of legal representation and a lack of attention to issues specific to Union members in New Hampshire and in Law Enforcement in general.
In January 2007 we unanimously voted to affilliate with the New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA) and The International Union of Police Associations (IUPA). We are extremely proud of our relationship with NEPBA and look forward to growing with them.
It was my honor to be re-elect to a third term as President of NEPBA Local 27 at our June '08 meeting and I'll be trying very hard to remain deserving of this responsibility and live up to the expectations of my members.
I hope you enjoy our website and find it useful. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Stay Safe !
In Solidarity,
President - NEPBA Local 27
Hanover, NH Local Police Union
and
Regional Vice President
Region 8 - Western New Hampshire
New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA)
